Swimming and Diving
Laguna De Apoyo measures 6 kilometers across and is
reported to be the lowest point in Central America at 200 to 400 meters
deep, depending on which book you believe. The angle of the lagoon edge can
be intimadating with a 45 degree drop, invoking images of what may lurk
beneath. If you care to find out, guided diving is available at very reasonable
rates. The laguna is crystal clear, also perfect for snorkling, kayaking or floating on inner tubes
and water mats, all of which are provided free of charge.

Nature at it's Best
Spend the day lakeside, reading a book, or relaxing in a hammock. Enjoy the breeze or explore trails
along the crater of the dormant Volcano Apoyo and search for howler monkeys, butterflies, or some
of the 144 species of birds that call the laguna home. |
